Jan 11, 2026
VOLGA, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers win streak came to an end Saturday afternoon at the Roundball Classic in a tight 69-65 overtime loss to Dell Rapids. The Tigers got out to an early lead in the first half but Dell Rapids was able to stay in this game taking a late lead eventually forcing o
vertime where more shots fell for the Quarriers in the win as the Tigers fall to 4-3 on the season.
There were some unreal performances in this game, and the unfortunate reality of a close game is one team has to lose. Even in the losing effort this was a big day for Kale Knudson who kept them in this game with his shots at the free throw line late in the game, but also continued to look good setting up the offense. Trueth Crow Ghost showed a lot of hustle in this game and made some big time plays down the stretch to help give the Tigers a chance all the way until the end. Kyson Good Shield defensively was very impressive in this game as well, as he found himself defending down low a lot and was effective doing it against a tall physical Dell Rapids team. In the end though it was Camden Jones of Dell Rapids who knocked down the two big free throws at the end of the game to essentially ice it in overtime, as well as making a slew of other big plays in overtime making him the Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game.
This game started in a fast paced transition game where both teams tried to get as many fast break opportunities as possible. Mobridge-Pollock was strong early, building up a lead at half time, but Dell Rapids was continuously able to match the pace keeping themselves in the game. In the second half Dell Rapids chipped away at the Tiger lead taking a lead of their own in the fourth quarter before the Tigers struck back and tied it up with under a minute to play in regulation to force overtime. Down the stretch fouls became the issue for the Tigers losing three players who fouled out, and when a couple of close calls didn’t go their way in overtime the Tigers couldn’t get back in it while fouling at the end of overtime as the Quarriers earn the best win on their season downing Mobridge-Pollock 69-65.
In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will travel to take on Gettysburg Monday, January 12 with tipoff scheduled around 7:00 p.m.
