Husker Wrestler in Jail on Outstanding Texas Warrant

Husker wrestler AJ Ferrari on Saturday was booked for extradition back to Collin County, Texas, which is
in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. According to the Nebraska State Patrol, Ferrari was seen by a trooper going 90 mph in a pickup truck on eastbound I-80 near Waverly.
During the traffic stop, the driver realized it was Ferrari and he had an extradition warrant. Ferrari was put in the Lancaster County Jail.
The Nebraska Athletic Department released the following statement about the incident involving Ferrari.
“The Nebraska Athletic Department is aware of the arrest of AJ Ferrari on Friday night related to an outstanding warrant in Texas. We are awaiting more information from legal authorities involved and have no additional comment at this time.”
In his wrestling career, Ferrari won a national championship along with the Big 12 title at Oklahoma State in 2021. He was later dismissed from the Oklahoma State wrestling program and was charged with felony sexual battery in 2022. Those charges were later dropped.
Ferrari later wrestled at Cal State-Bakersfield and was the Pac-12 champion in 2025. He transferred to Nebraska in June 2025.
