The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 5:21 a.m. on Sunday for black ice until 9:15 a.m. for Northern Herkimer, Northern Warren and Southeast Warren as well as Hamilton County.“With temperatures hovering near freezing in some areas this morning, some of the standing water from over night rainfall may refreeze and result in slippery patches of ice across portions of the southern Adirondacks, the Lake George region, and higher elevations of southern Vermont and northern Berkshire County. Motorists and pedestrians should exercise caution if driving or walking through 9 a.m. this morning and be prepared for a possible thin layer of ice on roadways, sidewalks, stairs, driveways or any other untreated ground surfaces which may remain icy and slippery,” according to the weather service. ...read more read less
