Colorado guitarist taken by ICE 2 days before Christmas

While working in Colorado Springs, 30-year-old Marcos Flores-Ceballos was swept away by ICE agents two days before Christmas.
Flores-Ceballos, a guitarist who plays for Colorado rock band Summer of Peril, was taken by agents while he was out on the job for Sign Shop Limited, an employee confirmed
to The Gazette. According to a GoFundMe created by his fellow band members, he is being held at the ICE facility in Aurora.
The Gazette has reached out to Immigration and Customs Enforcement multiple times to confirm the arrest and his detainment at the location, but they have not responded.
A resident of Colorado Springs, Flores-Ceballos is the bassist for Summer of Peril. The alternative rock band is based in Fort Collins and plays at local venues such as the Black Sheep, according to employee Rosanna Taylor.
“It hit close for the community,” Taylor said. “He wasn’t someone out there committing heinous crimes. He’s just living his life, working hard in his band and spending time with his friends.”
According to fellow bandmate Alex Forbes, who is also the organizer of a GoFundMe that has raised over $25,000 to help pay for legal fees, Flores-Ceballos does not have a criminal history and has lived in the United States since he was a kid, Forbes wrote on the GoFundMe page.
A court records search shows no criminal history for the guitarist.
“Not only is he a loyal friend, but a huge supporter of our music scene … Colorado is his home, and he has every right to be here,” Forbes wrote on the page.
Forbes and the rest of the band, along with family members, declined interview requests from The Gazette. They said that Flores-Ceballos’ lawyer, Kristi Englekirk of immigration law firm Meza Associates, advised them against speaking to the media in fear of impacting the legal battle ahead.
While Taylor said she didn’t know him too well, she said Summer of Peril became a part of the local community at least a year ago when they started playing at The Black Sheep.
She said their community immediately started looking for ways to help out once they heard the news.
And what came of it is a special event hosted by The Black Sheep to help raise legal funds for Marcos on Friday night. Six bands, whom Taylor said are all friends and help support each other, will play.
“He’s a beloved member of his community. We love him, and miss him dearly, and we (are) working every day to try and get him back home where he belongs,” Joe Bruno, the person who booked the shows for the venue, told The Gazette in an email.
Bruno declined to comment on anything related to the case.
“It’s just jarring for everybody because we’re watching a good person go through something incredibly difficult and scary,” Taylor said.
