Looking at the list of contenders for appointment to the open Park City Council seat, it is readily clear that Jack Rubin stands above the field. Jack’s successful experience running for-profit businesses will bring a vital perspective to our council that is now operating a $98 million enterpr ise. More important is Jack’s focus on restoring the citizens’ voice to growth decisions as Park City prepares for the Olympics and deals with the building boom affecting our city and county. Jack wants to maintain the livability of our town, balancing the desires of corporate entities with the needs of its full-time residents, to achieve the best outcome for all interests. This citizen-centric and holistic, yet objective, point of view is a much needed perspective in our city governance. Jack ran a determined and effective campaign for mayor of our city, carrying half its voters with him. He proved himself to be thoughtful, even-handed and hardworking. Jack’s command of city history and the current issues affecting our city, county and state is most impressive and superior to the other candidates. Watching Jack present his case to voters during the recent mayoral election left me impressed with his active listening skills and professional demeanor that will have a calming effect in council, creating a forum for open and constructive discussions. Jack’s ability to focus on the heart of the issue at hand and drive productive conversations will be a positive presence on the council and enable our city to make necessary decisions and move forward decisively. Our town can no longer wait for events to overtake us and have decisions made for us. Jack is the ointment that the council needs to progress in its work. Most notable is Jack’s willingness to put his name in for council after running for mayor. It shows his selfless desire to work on behalf of the citizens for the benefit of our community in whatever capacity is afforded to him. Jack Rubin is our best candidate for the open council seat.
