MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Lady Tigers got back into the win column with two big wins this week taking down Shiloh Christian 54-13 Tuesday night and Miller 49-43 Thursday night. In their first stint back home since the back to back losses coming out of winter break the Lady Tigers earne d two big wins to advance to 5-2 on their season. Throughout the two games this week we saw many impressive performances from this entire Lady Tiger roster including a big scoring performance on Tuesday from Blake Thompson, and a lot of big defense down low from Faith Heil and Brooke Bain. In the win over Shiloh Christian a lot of different players could have been our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game but Tegan Konold has stepped up as a leader on the court since winter break playing some excellent basketball earning her the honors. In the win over Miller, the game went more defensive meaning we had to highlight one of the unsung heroes of this Lady Tiger defense for the whole season, including this game, our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game went to Brooke Bain. The Lady Tigers got the scoring started early on Tuesday night getting out to an early lead and never looking back thanks to some quick offense and a number of three-point shots made by Blake Thompson in the first quarter en route to a 36-6 lead after the first half. In the second half not much would change as the Mobridge-Pollock bench began to rotate in allowing the entire team to get valuable minutes in the eventual 54-13 win. On Thursday Mobridge-Pollock returned to the court for the first game of a double header taking on the 6-1 Miller Rustlers. Miller was able to be physical down low but Mobridge-Pollock played lights out defense making scoring difficult all night for Miller. In the end the excellent defense would be enough to secure the 49-43 win for the Lady Tigers as they continue to defend their home court. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will take on Crow Creek back at home Thursday, January 15 with tipoff scheduled around 6:30 p.m. — — — — — — — — — — — — — MOBRIDGE, S.D. – The Mobridge-Pollock Tigers extended their win streak to three games Thursday night when they got a big 74-48 win over Miller. The Tigers got the scoring started and didn’t look back as they led nearly the entire game as they advanced to 4-2 on the season. Momentum has been a theme for this team throughout the last two weeks since coming back from winter break and they carried their momentum in this game. A lot of big performances, starting with Kale Knudson who has continued to look impressive in every performance, able to score in a lot of different situations, but also not afraid to pass it off and help set up his teammates. Jesse Schneider had one of his better performances in the early part of this season making some big shots in this win. Andrew Ulmer, the newest addition to the varsity roster made a splash in his first varsity minus at the end of the game sinking a three that the crowd went nuts for. But once again coming off the bench and contributing a lot to the winning effort in this win was our Riverside Home Furnishing Player of the Game Kadin Kuehl.  In the second game of the double header the energy was high in the gymnasium of Mobridge-Pollock high school and the Tigers fed off that energy early. This game got started with a back and forth with both teams trading shots before Mobridge-Pollock was able to tighten up on defense and force some turnovers to begin to build a lead. With some good ball movement on offense setting themselves up for great drives at the basket the Tigers continued to roll in this game eventually opening up their lead in the fourth quarter allowing the bench players to come in and get some valuable minutes in the 74-48 win. In their next time out Mobridge-Pollock will travel to take on Dell Rapids in the Round Ball Classic Saturday, January 10 with tipoff scheduled around 3:30 p.m. ...read more read less
