A man was arrested after a carjacking led to a police chase through Frankford and a cop car stolen on Friday evening, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. This all unfolded around 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 2 when it was reported that a suspect carjacked a woman at gunpoint near the intersecti on of Race and Robinson streets, officials said. Officers were able to find the stolen car using the OnStar program along with the police helicopter near the intersection of Frankford and Adams avenues, Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace told NBC10. Once the officers found the stolen car, a chase began before the suspect stopped, got out of the car and ran, Pace said. At one point during the foot chase, the suspect doubled back and jumped into a marked police car before taking off, Pace told NBC10. The 21-year-old suspect parked the police car in the driveway of a home on the 900 block of Arrott Street before abandoning the car and hiding behind the nearby homes, police said. Officials said they are still searching for the gun that the suspect used. SkyForce10 was over the scene where a white Philadelphia police patrol car could be seen parked between two vehicles in a home’s driveway. Officers could be seen looking over fences with flashlights and blocking the road. This is a developing story. Check back here for updates. ...read more read less
