Former Major League Baseball star Lenny Dykstra was in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia during a state police traffic stop on New Year’s Day, according to police. Pennsylvania State Police at Blooming Grove stopped an SUV on Route 507 in Greene Twp. for a traffic violation just after midnight on Jan. 1. During their investigation, they found Dykstra, 62, of Scranton, a passenger in the vehicle, to be in possession of “narcotics and narcotic related equipment/paraphernalia.” During an interview with The Times-Tribune of Scranton in October of 2024, Dykstra admitted to abusing drugs, but said he didn’t consider himself an addict. Dykstra’s 11-year-baseball career was split between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies, including winning a World Series championship as a member of the 1986 Mets and a successful transition to the Phillies in 1989. Dykstra played his final game with the Phillies and as a Major League Baseball player in 1996. State police plan to file charges. Attempts to reach Dykstra were unsuccessful.   ...read more read less
