INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The search for a missing autistic teen has turned to a recovery mission as Indianapolis police say the boy may have fallen into the White River. Robert “RJ” Williams Jr. was reported missing on Dec. 17 from the 1000 block of Broad Ripple Avenue. That’s right of f the Monon Trail Crossing east of Winthrop Avenue. On Dec. 18, members of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department searched that area, reportedly finding Williams’ backpack and gym bag on a dock along the White River. IMPD said in an update Friday morning detectives believe Williams “likely fell into the river.” “As a result, this case has transitioned to a recovery mission,” the department wrote. “Detectives, with assistance from DNR, will continue using specialized equipment and resources to search the area for RJ.” IMPD confirmed to News 8 that they will be searching the 1000 block of Broad Ripple Avenue during the day Friday.
