Starting in 2026, Baltimore will begin spending in earnest the hundreds of millions of dollars it won in settlements with opioid companies. The city still ranks as one of the highest in the nation for opioid overdose deaths, with nearly 800 in 2024 and more than 500 to date in 2025.
