INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Rain didn’t keep two marching bands from Indiana from shining in Thursday’s Rose Parade. The IU Marching Hundred and the Brownsburg High School Marching Band were featured in the iconic Rose Parade, an annual tradition that dates back to 1890. The parade is held mo stly along Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California, on the morning before the Rose Bowl college football game. The Sound of Brownsburg The Sound of Brownsburg received its Rose Parade invite in October 2024. Brownsburg was the only Indiana high school invited to participate in this year’s Rose Parade and other Rose Bowl activities. “I think the significance of this Rose Bowl, specifically to the state of Indiana, is obviously way heightened now,” Brownsburg band director Chris Kaflik told News 8’s Angela Moryan. “You’re going to have a lot more people from Indiana watching the actual parade now, so…we feel way more empowered, and we feel a lot more pride in representing the state of Indiana.” Brownsburg High School – Rose Bowl Parade The Marching Hundred IU’s invitation arrived in early December, when the undefeated Hoosiers won the Big Ten championship game and received the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff.
