SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- There is a 70-90% chance of rain across the Bay Area on New Year's Eve, according to the National Weather Service. The soggy forecast comes as thousands of Bay Area residents are gearing up to watch the annual New Year's Eve fireworks over the San Francisco Bay. Power out in San Francisco… again In addition to slick, wet roadways, the weather service is advising people to expect rainy and damp conditions as we ring in the New Year. The question, however, on many Bay Area residents, is will the fireworks dampen plans for New Year's Eve fireworks? The short answer is no. On Tuesday, KRON4 News spoke to Pat Dyas, the show producer of the San Francisco New Year's Eve fireworks show. He told us the fireworks are set to ahead, rain or shine -- but perhaps with a little extra weather proofing. According to KRON4 Meteorologist Brady Brewster, while Wednesday's rain will be fairly widespread, it will remain light. However, if you'd prefer to remain dry, you can tune into the "KRON4 New Years Live" special and catch all the SF fireworks action from the comfort of your own home.
