Bay Area public transit offering free rides, later hours for NYE

For New Year’s Eve revelers heading to San Francisco, there are several ways to get there for free.
SF Muni is offering free rides from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The agency advises riders to not tap their Clipper cards; otherwise they’ll be charged.
Caltrain also will offer free rides starting at 8
p.m. The offer will go until the last train leaves from San Francisco at 2 a.m. Thursday.
Santa Clara VTA is offering free rides in the South Bay until 5 a.m. VTA will run on a holiday schedule on New Year’s Day.
BART is not offering free rides, but it will have extra trains and extended hours. Trains headed eastbound from San Francisco will run until about 1:30 a.m. And the last Millbrae-bound train leaves San Francisco just after 2 a.m.
