(BCN) -- Wednesday in the Bay Area calls for rain across the region day and night, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime highs on New Year's Eve will be mostly in the high 50s to low 60s on the coast, high 40s to mid 50s around the bay, and high 40s to low 50s inland. Overnight lows wi ll be in the high 40s to low 50s. Much of the Central Coast will receive light to moderate rain by this morning before it spreads across the Bay Area and North Bay. The Santa Lucia and Sierra de Salinas ranges are expected to get higher rain amounts due to a marginal risk of excessive rainfall. Rain will continue through New Year's Day, though not as heavy or widespread as it will be today. Forecasters issued a coastal flood advisory for the shorelines of San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, Monterey Bay and the Pacific Coast from Wednesday 5 a.m. through Sunday 2 p.m. Wednesday morning high tides at the San Francisco tidal gauge are expected to rise 1.5 feet above normal, driven in part by up to 1 foot of storm surge. The agency advises commuters to account for extra travel time due to possible road closures and for owners of flood-prone properties to take necessary precautions.
