Death investigation turns into homicide INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a death near train tracks on the city’s near east side. At 5:49 p.m. Monday, IMPD Southeast District officers were dispatched to the 3100 block of Moore Avenue on a report of a possible death investigation. That is just east of Interstate 70. Officers arrived and found a man unresponsive near the train tracks on Moore Avenue. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services medics arrived and pronounced the man dead at the scene. IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. During the initial investigation, no signs of foul play or obvious signs of trauma were found. The man’s death was initially believed to be medical or weather-related. Following examination by the Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO), it was discovered that the man had a injury consistent with gunshot wounds. The MCCO will be assisting with the investigation, and will determine the exact manner and cause of death. The name of the man will be released after his family has been notified.
