The program is a $50 billion initiative for improving th
e health and well-being of rural communities nationwide established under President Donald Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill, which he signed into law in July.
The program’s $50 billion in funds will be allocated to approved states over five years, with $10 billion available each year from 2026 through 2030.
Half the $10 billion yearly fund is distributed evenly among all states, and the other half is “allocated based on a variety of factors,” including state metrics around rurality and current or proposed state policy actions to increase the quality of care in rural communities.
Texas and Alaska received the largest amount of funding, at $281,319,361 and $272,174,856, respectively. New Jersey and Connecticut received the least.
