Tourist stabbed in unprovoked attack at Bryant Park while tying his shoe
Dec 30, 2025
A tourist from Canada was stabbed in the leg in an unprovoked attack as he left Bryant Park on Monday, authorities say, and police are still looking for the person responsible.
It happened during the crush of the holiday season, not far from the famed Manhattan park’s Winter Village — and ho
urs after Mayor Eric Adams had touted record-low crime in the city at a scheduled event.
According to officials, police responding to a 5:30 p.m. call at the West 40th Street and Sixth Avenue side of the park found a 44-year-old man stabbed in the left leg.
The man told police he had been visiting the Winter Village and paused to tie his shoe on the way out. That’s when he felt something pierce his leg, according to police.
He didn’t notice he had been hurt until he realized he was bleeding as he walked away. The man was taken to a hospital for treatment and is expected to be OK.
Authorities hadn’t released a potential suspect description as of Tuesday morning.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
