Fastmoving winter weather systems arriving in Chicago on Tuesday, Wednesday

Two fast-moving winter weather systems are expected to move into the Chicago area Tuesday and New Year's Eve, the National Weather Service said.The clipper systems will bring a chance of light snow and create potential travel slowdowns, the weather service said.

The winter weather systems come after the Chicago area saw winds of greater than 50 mph and a wintry mix of rain and snow Monday morning. The storm left 0.9 inches of snow, according to NWS meteorologist Ricky Castro said.Tuesday will be breezy with expected winds of up to 25 mph and evening snow north of Interstate 80, the weather service said. The high on Tuesday will be 25 to 29 degrees, with lows of 21 to 25 degrees.High temps on New Year's Eve will be 29 to 33 degrees and the low temps at night will be 7 to 14 degrees. Wednesday will also be breezy, with snow expected in the evening.Temperatures on New Year's Day will see a high between 18 and 25 degrees, morning wind chills will range from minus-5 to 5 degrees. Conditions will be partly cloudy. Low temps at night will be 12 to 18 degrees, the weather service said.
