Four people were charged after a teen's gun went off during an arrest Saturday afternoon in West Lawn on the Southwest Side. Around 3:35 p.m., officers responded to the 3700 block of West 71st Street after a woman said one of the teens inside of a Chevrolet SUV pointed a firearm at her during an arg ument, Chicago police said. After officers found a vehicle matching the description of the one from the prior incident, a 17-year-old boy fled from the vehicle, police said. As officers struggled to get the teen in custody, a firearm discharged while concealed in his clothing, officials said. No one was struck. Another 17-year-old boy was arrested without incident and was found with a firearm, police said. The teen whose gun went off was hospitalized with injuries considered to be minor, authorities said. One of the teens faced several charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon for a person under 21 and resisting arrest. The other teen was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and resisting arrest. A 16-year-old girl and 29-year-old woman also were charged with multiple counts of resisting arrest, police said. ...read more read less
