A man remained hospitalized in critical condition Monday, hours after he was shot in the chest in the heart of Midtown, blocks away from crowds celebrating the holidays with the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree Little was known about the circumstances regarding the shooting, which happened near West 57th Street and Sixth Avenue — an area known as “Billionaire’s Row” — around 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Police say the man who was shot is 27 and took a bullet to his chest. They haven’t released additional information about him. He is expected to survive. The shooting happened blocks from crowds visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and Radio City Music Hall. People who live nearby say they were shocked to hear about the shooting.
