The New York Police Department says a man was shot Sunday evening in Midtown Manhattan, in the heart of what is known as “Billionaire’s Row.” Officers were called shortly before 10:15PM to West 57th Street and Sixth Avenue, also known as Avenue of the Americas. Authorities say the 27-yea r-old man was critically hurt after being hit in the chest. He was rushed to Mount Sinai West hospital. The shooting occured in the middle of the busy holiday season, with crowds just blocks away visiting the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree and Radio City Music Hall. People who live nearby say they were shocked to hear about the shooting. Investigators could be seen past midnight early Monday morning scouring for evidence. Police did not have any immediate details on who might have opened fire or why. This is a breaking story.
