Police shut down rumors of shooting at Castleton Square Mall INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — False information on an active shooter situation at Castleton Square Mall prompted a “large, precautionary response” from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Saturday. IMPD posted the followin g message on its X page: “At this time, there is no active shooter at Castleton Mall, no gunshots have been fired, and no injuries have been reported. Several juveniles at the mall began running around, which led to false information being shared. This prompted a large, precautionary response. Misinformation quickly spread on social media, causing unnecessary fear. Officers have checked the area and determined there is no active threat at this time. Parents and guardians are reminded to know where their children are, who they are with, and what they are doing. Situations like this can escalate quickly and create confusion that impacts public safety and draws emergency resources away from real emergencies.
