Terrell Police said they’re investigating after finding four people dead inside one home on Christmas Eve.
In a press release, police said it started as a welfare concern for folks inside a home on the 200 block of Rash Lane, just before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Investigators said they arri
ved to find four people dead at the scene.
According to the press release, victims’ names are not being released “pending proper identification” and notification of family members.
Police said at this time, they believe whatever happened at the home was an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.
Kathern Limmer said she was cooking for Christmas Day on Wednesday when she looked out her window.
“There was police cars everywhere,” she said.
It wasn’t until the next day, when police released information, that she and her husband, Johnny, found out what had happened to her neighbor across the street.
“It’s four people that’s gone. That loved ones somewhere,” she said with tears in her eyes.
Limmer said even though they didn’t know their neighbor well, the tragedy and its timing aren’t lost on them.
“This was the day before Christmas, and their family had Christmas without them,” she said.
“How could you go and come outside every day and look at the house and know what happened?” said Johnny. “Kind of mind-boggling, really.”
Stephanie Turner lives down the street and said her son and other family members were playing outside when they noticed the police presence.
“They weren’t sure what it was, but we just knew that it wasn’t right,” said Turner, who said she noticed police between 5:30 p.m. and around 1 a.m.
Like others, she is still in shock.
“This is a really good neighborhood. People love on each other here and all that good stuff,” Turner said.
Although she didn’t know the family inside the house, Turner said she does know a relative.
“I know that one of the family members that I am in contact with, I know that she’s grieving. And I know the family is grieving. And they all are trying to find understanding,” she said.
“It’s hurt, it’s tears, this is going to separate their family, this is going to tear up their family, you know? Because nobody knows why, nobody knows how, or what caused this or what brought this on. All they know is they got family members that are gone,” Turner added.
She called it all heartbreaking.
“Every time they think about celebrating Christmas, or even Christmas Eve… these people are going to go through some trauma,” Turner said.
Like some other neighbors, she’s shocked that a holiday had gone so wrong for someone so close to home.
“We got our garage open, we have people in the yard celebrating, we’re laughing, we’re eating, we’re having a good time, and something like this is happening right down the street,” she said.
Terrell Police are asking anyone with information to contact them at 469- 474-2700.
