(KRON) — A Petaluma man was arrested for a hate crime on Christmas Eve after they wrote racial slurs and drew a swastika on an SUV parked in a downtown Petaluma parking garage, according to police. That SUV belonged to local coach and former Harlem Globetrotter William Bullard, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Bullard posted a videos about the issue on social media. The suspect, 20-year-old Corey Newman, left the hateful messages sometime between Dec. 1 and Dec. 9, the Petaluma Police Department said. Newman allegedly commited the crime by drawing on the dusty SUV with his finger. “The Petaluma Police Department takes all hate-related incidents seriously and remains fully committed to conducting thorough and impartial investigations,” Petaluma PD said. “Crimes motivated by bias have a profound impact not only on those directly affected, but also on the sense of safety and well-being of the entire community.” Two injured in avalanche at Mammoth Mountain Officers identified the suspect after reviewing the garage’s surveillance footage.
