Chevy Tahoe strikes, kills 61yearold riding escooter

(KRON) -- A 61-year-old Rohnert Park resident was struck and killed Friday while riding an e-scooter in Santa Rosa, police said.
Officers responded around 8:11 a.m. to reports of a crash with injuries at the intersection of Santa Rosa Avenue and El Portal Drive, according to the Santa Rosa Police D
epartment.
When officers and Santa Rosa Fire Department personnel arrived, they found the victim, who had been riding an e-scooter, dead at the scene.

Investigators said a Chevrolet Tahoe was making a southbound left turn onto Santa Rosa Avenue from a parking lot when it hit the e-scooter traveling north on Santa Rosa Avenue.
The driver, a 30-year-old Santa Rosa resident, told police they did not see the scooter. The driver stopped immediately, called 911, stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.
The victim’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The investigation remains ongoing.
Santa Rosa Avenue at El Portal was temporarily closed as a result of the accident but has since reopened.
