Two bores of Caldecott Tunnel remain closed due to stormrelated electrical emergency

(KRON) -- Two of the Caldecott Tunnel’s four bores remain closed due to a storm-related electrical emergency, according to Caltrans. Eastbound Bore 1 and westbound Bore 3 were shut down, while bores 2 and 4 remain open.

The CHP issued a severe traffic alert for eastbound and westbound lanes of Highway 24 near Orinda. Drivers should expect delays, avoid the area, and use alternate routes when possible.
There is no estimated time for reopening the closed bores.
Caltrans is also reporting that there is emergency construction on eastbound Highway 24 between the tunnel and Fish Ranch Road. Lanes are expected to be closed until midnight.
