An updated weather alert was issued by the National Weather Service on Friday at 6:46 p.m. for heavy snow until 9 p.m. for Western Greene, Eastern Greene, Western Columbia, Eastern Columbia, Western Ulster, Eastern Ulster, Western Dutchess and Eastern Dutchess."Bands of heavy snow will continue to m ove across much of the Mid Hundson Valley this evening, reducing visibility to less than a quarter of a mile at times with snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Be prepared for difficult travel due to the high snowfall rates, low visibilities, and snow covered roads. Travel is not recommended this evening.
