Man arrested for killing woman on city’s east side
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives arrested 41-year-old Al Fisher ll for his alleged role in a December murder investigation.
On Monday, IMPD East District officers responded to the 7500
block of South Village Way on a report of a person shot. That is the location of English Village Apartments on the city’s east side. Officers arrived and found a woman suffering from trauma injuries. The woman was identified as 36-year-old Ashley Yarrell.
She was transported to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. The Marion County Coroner’s Office assisted and determined that Yarrell had been shot. The incident was officially ruled a homicide.
On Wednesday, multiple tips from community members led IMPD Northwest District officers to the 5400 block of Georgetown Road, where they found Fisher sitting in a vehicle. Fisher led officers on a vehicle pursuit that ended when he crashed the car he was driving. Fisher attempted to run on foot, but was quickly taken into custody without further incident.
After further investigation, homicide detectives arrested Fisher on preliminary charges of murder and resisting law enforcement.
