(BCN) -- The National Weather Service forecast for the greater San Francisco Bay Area for Friday calls for showers, small chances of thunderstorms, and gusty winds across the region. Daytime highs will be mostly in the high 50s to low 60s on the coast, mid to high 50s around the bay, and low to mid 50s inland. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 40s. Forecasters say rainy and unsettled weather will continue across the Bay Area and Central Coast on Friday, with more showers and a small chance of thunderstorms as another weather system moves through the region, also bringing gusty winds. Bay Area storm updates: Rain showers continue Friday There is about a 15% to 20% chance of thunderstorms during the day. The main concerns include brief heavy rain, small hail and strong wind gusts. Winds will blow from the south to southwest at 20 to 35 mph in many areas, with stronger gusts of 30 to 45 mph possible in the mountains. Winds are expected to turn north later Friday, which should help reduce moisture and slowly weaken the storm, according to the NWS. A Flood Watch remains in effect through Friday evening because heavy downpours could cause flash flooding and landslides, especially in areas with steep terrain or poor drainage. Forecasters urged drivers to use caution during periods of heavy rain. Dangerous beach and marine conditions will also continue through Friday along the Pacific coast, with hazardous waves and strong currents. Showers are expected to taper off by Friday evening, though some rain may linger into the night and early Saturday. Colder weather is expected to settle in over the weekend once the storms move out, according to the NWS. Copyright © 2025 Bay City News, Inc. ...read more read less
