Dec 24, 2025
Power has been restored to tens of thousands of PGE customers in the South Bay who were affected Wednesday morning after a fire at one of the utility’s substations in Saratoga.
The fire occurred at about at about 8:25 a.m. and has since been contained. PGE officials on social media said the fir
e initially led to about 21,000 customers losing power.
As of shortly after noon, power was restored to all customers, according to PGE.
“We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked to bring service back safely,” the utility wrote on social media.
A separate PGE substation fire in San Francisco last weekend left nearly a third of the utility’s customers in the city without power at the peak of the outage Saturday. Thousands of customers did not have their power restored until early Tuesday.
