Stanford physics paper appearing to be from 49ers star goes viral for wrong reasons: ‘This is gold’

(KRON) -- San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey is amidst an MVP-caliber season. McCaffrey is closing in on history of being the first player to have two seasons of 1,000 rushing and 1,000 receiving yards.
The 29-year-old running back has been known for otherworldly talent on the football f
ield.
And not nuclear energy.
The internet did internet things and dug up an old essay that appears to be by McCaffrey during his days at Stanford University. The football star wrote a paper on nuclear energy in 2016, according to an X post that has gone viral this week.
The tweet revealed a screenshot of McCaffrey's essay on Area 51 Nuclear Testing, which is in the Stanford archives. Some critics alluded to one particular line in the essay that appeared to be authored by McCaffrey.
"As one could imagine, a nuclear weapon can have definite effects on its surrounding."
The essay was sprinkled with loose grammar (mixing up the use of "there" and "their"). It reads, "While many might think that there role is simply to test weapons, it actually does much more."
The comments section was flooded with more than 100 users chiming in on the pro athlete's apparent analysis of nuclear sites, including the following.

Nine years ago, there was no easily accessible artificial intelligence system to assist college students. The user who posted the tweet writes, "thanks to ChatGPT there will never be another hilariously awful essay written by a college football player. end of an era."
The tweet, which was posted by a former Stanford research fellow, has gone viral with more than 1.6 million views on X. The essay was written for an Introduction to Nuclear Energy class (PH241) that McCaffrey took in the spring of 2016.
Well before he became an NFL star, McCaffrey knew he was meant to play football and not hypothesize about nuclear energy. In 2016, he wrote a piece on The Players' Tribune, referencing the nuclear energy class he took at the Bay Area university.
"I know there will be a lot of challenges, but now I have a better understanding of how to handle them, whether it’s on the football field or in a nuclear energy class," McCaffrey wrote.
KRON4 reached out to the Stanford professor who taught the class for more information. We are awaiting a response.
