SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Driving around the San Francisco Bay Area will be more expensive in 2026 for people who commute over bridges. With the New Year starting next Thursday, Bay Area Toll Authority officials are reminding drivers that tolls for seven state-owned bridges will go up by 50 cents on Jan. 1. Bridges with 50-cent toll hikes are: San Francisco-Oakland (Bay Bridge), Antioch, Benicia-Martinez, Carquinez, Dumbarton, Richmond-San Rafael, and San Mateo-Hayward. Last January, tolls for the seven bridges jumped up $1. This January's toll hike will be followed by five more toll increases phased-in each January through 2030. California drivers warned to reconsider Christmas travel plans ahead of storms Tolls drivers who use a license plate account will climb to $9.25 in 2027; to $9.75 in 2028; to $10.25 in 2029 and to $10.75 in 2030.
