Dec. 23 | Tuesday evening forecast INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re sticking on the path of mild air through Christmas and into the first part of the final weekend of December. Then, cold air is looking to strike again into Sunday through early next week. Tuesday night: Partly cloudy and colde r with lows in the mid 30s. Christmas Eve: Mix of sun and clouds with highs in the low 50s. Then, our next system slides in Wednesday night with scattered showers possible. These showers look to potentially carry over into Thursday morning. Christmas Day: Eyeing a mild Christmas Day, but not for everyone. A warm front will move northward to an extent, but this will cause areas north to be cooler and areas south warmer. Here in Indy, we look to top out in the mid 50s, but this would still be well above normal for this time of the year. 7-Day Forecast: Temperatures will push into the low to mid 60s Friday and Saturday. A rain chance may play out Thursday night into early Friday. Then, a more organized system swings in somewhere in the late Saturday-Sunday morning timeframe. This may generate some additional showers, but it is uncertain if thunder will also be possible. What we do know is that temperatures will tumble again Sunday with numbers going from the 50s/60s early in the morning to the 20s by Sunday night. Wind chill values may be down into the single digits Sunday night-Monday morning. Highs will be very cold next Monday and Tuesday. It is possible we remain chilly into New Year’s Eve. Beyond that, there are some signals for another warmup, but confidence is quite low on that. ...read more read less
