Veteran San Antonio chefs to debut new upscale restaurant in Stone Oak

The former Frida space on San Antonio’s North Side is getting a reset. Katerina, a New American concept led by a veteran culinary team, will open at 18740 Stone Oak Pkwy in early January 2026.Co-owners Katerina Akimova and Dick Jones drafted chefs Justin Manzi and Greg Carter to lead the kitchen.
Manzi is a Culinary Institute of America-trained chef with Italian roots and experience at restaurants like The Oceanaire Seafood Room and Morton’s Steakhouse. Carter, a San Antonio native, studied at Le Cordon Bleu and later worked at several Michelin-starred kitchens.The collaborative menu combines shareable appetizers with decadent entrees and casual pizzas. Guests can start with ginger soy Brussels sprouts, chili crunch calamari, and wood-roasted Wagyu meatballs, then move on to branzino with citrus vinaigrette, coriander-crusted duck breast, braised beef short rib, or Parisienne gnocchi. Desserts like a maple peanut butter pie provide a decadent ending.
