At least 3,800 PGE customers in San Francisco remained without power Monday following a series of outages across the city and a substation fire over the weekend. The power issues began at about 9:40 a.m. Saturday, followed by a fire that afternoon at the PGE Mission substation, affecting about 13 0,000 customers at the peak of the outages. On Monday, PGE officials said the goal was to restore power to all customers by 2 p.m. Monday. The utility later updated its timeline of expected restoration to 6 a.m. Tuesday. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie gave a briefing Monday, emphasizing the financial loss as a result of the power outage. The San Francisco Sheriff’s Office said several city offices and other public buildings would be closed Monday due to the outages: City Hall, the Main Library, the Civic Center Garage, Muni customer service on Van Ness Avenue, and offices at 525 Golden Gate, 101 Grove St., and 1 Van Ness Ave. The War Memorial Veterans Building and the Asian Art Museum will also not be open to the public without restoration of power, the Sheriff’s Office said. The Richmond Recreation Center at 25118th Ave. was opened for residents to charge devices or get other resources.
