For the first time in years, every single Angel Tree tag in North Texas has been adopted, thanks to the generosity of thousands of donors. The program ensures children, seniors, and adults with special needs receive gifts during the holidays. North Texas hosts one of the largest Angel Tree eff orts in the country. Volunteers have been hard at work for the past week,  sorting donations as families picked up their gifts at the Salvation Army warehouse in Dallas. The Angel Tree program is one of the Salvation Army’s longest-running traditions, serving millions nationwide. “Once you have a kid, you always want to give them as much as you can. So this year, with all the prices going up and everything getting expensive, I was really worried I wasn’t going to be able to,” said Angelina Laurent, a Salvation Army recipient. “I know he’s only 10 months old, but I was so scared I wasn’t going to be able to afford it because of all the bills, car insurance, and everything. So it just feels great to see that people who don’t even know who I am, cared enough to get something from my son.” Laurent expected just a few items. Instead, her son’s wish list was nearly fulfilled. “When I saw it, I was like, oh my gosh, I cannot believe it. I was expecting maybe three or four presents,” she said. “As a parent, there is nothing better than seeing your child happy. It’s like a weight off our shoulders. We don’t have to worry about this this year.” This year, demand surged by 20 percent, making the milestone even more meaningful for millions across the country. Laurent hopes donors know the impact they’ve made. “That’s why we need these programs so everybody could feel special. even if it’s a little something,” said Laurent. “I’m probably never going to know who got my son the Angel Tree presents, but if they are out there and they are seeing this, I do want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
