Forecasters are predicting a chance of light snow or a wintry mix late Monday into Tuesday morning in Berks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery counties, and Mercer County in N.J. The National Weather Service area forecast discussion Monday morning said that precipitation will move in after a sunny day w ith highs in the upper 30s to low 40s with light winds out of the west and northwest. “A period of light snow, and potentially some wintry mix and rain are anticipated to impact portions of the region late tonight through Tuesday morning,” the NWS discussion stated. The forecast noted that near and north of Interstate 78 the probability of precipitation is 70% to 80%. South of I-78, the possibility drops to 40% to 60%. “One limiting factor is that, while there will be sufficient moisture and forcing for precip, the precip will have to overcome the initially dry air in the low levels,” the NWS Mount Holly office discussion stated. “This will work to limit (precipitation) and snowfall amounts farther south into the Philly metro.” AccuWeather is also forecasting some frozen precipitation, a coating in northern Berks and little to no accumulation in Delaware County.
