During a Dec. 15 council meeting, Mayor Brenda Bodnar read aloud a resolution thanking him for his eight years of service to the community before it was officially pa

“Al (Meyers) always made it a point to attend virtually every public meeting that was scheduled whether or not it was a board or commission to which he was assigned,” Bodnar addressed council. “Al prided himself on keeping his finger on the pulse of Mayfield Village and he was always engaged in asking questions and ensuring that all of this was running smoothly.”

During that time, he has donated vehicles to be used in training for the Police and Fire departments for extrication and stabilization training and to the School District during their prom accident safety intuitive, according to the city.
In an interview during a pizza and coffee break, Meyers said that he was retiring in order to enjoy the moments he cannot capture later, and taking life at little bit of a slower pace was an aspect he was looking forward to.
“I just wish them all the best with everything, so far, it goes really well here, everything runs smooth,” Meyers said about his follow council members. “We got a lot accomplished, so I hope it just carries on.”
When asked about the future of Ken’s Auto he said that the overseeing will be left to his sons who have already been operating it.
“My two boys are running it and its pretty much running just the way it has been for 63 years,” Meyers said. “Hopefully it will keep going. But other than that, everything’s good.”
Newly elected Councilperson Michael Girbino, will be replacing Meyers for the at-large position, and will be sworn in on Jan. 5 during council’s organizational meeting at 6:30 p.m.
