RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A Virginia Democratic official is accused of distributing child sexual abuse material (CSAM), according to federal court records. On May 22, 30-year-old Randon Sprinkle allegedly messaged an undercover FBI agent on the online dating application, Jack'd, under the alias "Rand y," according to court records filed in the Eastern District of Virginia. Sprinkle is accused of sending CSAM to the agent and of making a statement, expressing an interest in child sex abuse, per court records. Using open-source image searchers, investigators matched the profile picture on Jack'd to Sprinkle's X account, which used a username that matched his full name. A Facebook profile with Sprinkle's name attached also listed his location as Richmond. On Oct. 16, the FBI Richmond executed a federal search warrant at Sprinkle's Richmond home, leading to three electronic devices being seized. The FBI affidavit confirms that 68 files were extracted during a sweep of Sprinkle's iPhone and laptop. This included 42 unique files containing CSAM on his iPhone and laptop -- 29 unique images and 13 unique videos -- with some of the files containing toddlers. His iPhone also linked him to his Telegram username and his Jack'd account. Two archived files were found on his MacBook in late November, according to court records. Sprinkle was elected to the Metro Richmond Young Democrats executive board this year as treasurer and worked as a finance chairman of the Virginia Democratic Party, according to the Virginia Public Access Project (VPAP). The office of Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger (D) issued a statement on Sprinkle's charges, emphasizing his prosecution be quick. That statement is as follows: “Governor-elect Spanberger is grateful to the men and women of the FBI for their investigative work and for bringing this predator to justice. As a former federal law enforcement officer who arrested child predators, she believes that this individual should be swiftly prosecuted and put behind bars for his sickening crimes against children. Upon learning about these appalling reports, the Spanberger campaign immediately donated the full amount of this individual’s prior donations, $1000, to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to support its critical mission of protecting America’s kids.” 8News has reached out to the Virginia Democratic Party, Gov. Youngkin's office and VPAP for comment but have not yet received a response. ...read more read less
