(KRON) — A family of nine was saved from a home surrounded by a rushing river along Highway 80 Sunday, roughly 30 miles northwest of Lake Tahoe in the Sierra Nevada.
Rescuers with the Placer County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, the Truckee Fire Protection District and California St
ate Parks were dispatched to the rescue near Big Bend at about 11:45 a.m.
CHP shared footage of the rescue on Hampshire Rocks Road, along the South Yuba River. The video shows rescuers sliding a children’s car seat across a fire truck ladder extender over the raging water below. It's unclear if a child was inside the seat during the rescue.
