A New Jersey police chief is facing kidnapping and domestic assault charges in connection with an incident earlier this year at a hotel room in Boston.
Carmen Veneziano, 47, of Totowa, New Jersey — who also serves as the police chief in Totowa — was indicted Thursday in Boston for kidnappin
g and three counts of domestic assault and battery, the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office said.
Prosecutors allege that he confined and assaulted a woman in a Back Bay hotel room on Sept. 14, between 3:30 and 5 a.m.
Police assigned to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office in New Jersey arrested Veneziano without incident on Friday. He waived extradition and will be transported to Massachusetts to face charges here.
He is expected to be arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court on Monday. Prosecutors said further details will be disclosed at the arraignment.
