(KRON) — The holidays are nearly here, and BART will be running on a special schedule to get passengers to their destinations throughout the Bay Area. BART will run a mix of regular weekday service and Sunday service schedules for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. P ineapple express to bring wet Christmas to Bay Area BART's Christmas schedule On Christmas Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 24, BART will be running on a regular weekday schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight. BART will operate on a Sunday schedule, 8 a.m. to midnight, on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25. BART will resume a regular weekday schedule for the day after Christmas on Friday, Dec. 26. BART's New Year's schedule On New Year's Eve, Wednesday, Dec. 31, BART will run a regular weekday schedule with extended late-night service, extra staffing and addition trains. Only yellow, blue and orange lines will run in both directions for a total of six trains for 1 a.m. extended service. The yellow line will be the only line running in San Francisco and the Peninsula. BART will not run extra service to the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport and the San Francisco International Airport stations. The last East Bay-bound train running through downtown San Francisco will be around 1:30 a.m. and the last southbound train heading toward Millbrae will run through downtown San Francisco at around 2:10 a.m. The last trains of the evening from the yellow, blue and orange lines will be dispatched from the end of their lines at midnight and then at 1 a.m. BART will then run another set of last trains to serve 48 out of 50 stations. On New Year's Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, BART will operate on a Sunday schedule. Regular weekday service will resume on Friday, Jan. 2. BART is set to raise its fares once again on Jan. 1. The 6.2% increase, according to the transit agency, is based on inflation and will help generate $15.6 million in the new year. BART’s fare calculator has been updated to reflect the price increase for 2026 dates. BART parking prices for the holidays BART parking will be free at all stations on Christmas Day and New Year's Day except for the Milpitas and Berryessa/North San Jose stops since they are operated by VTA.
