HS Boys Basketball Wrap: CVC goes 08 against Shore in CVCShore Challenge

MANCHESTER TWP. — The nightmare before Christmas turned out to come true for the Colonial Valley Conference.
The CVC lost all nine games — eight boys, one girls — to the Shore Conference in the second edition of the CVC-Shore Challenge that was hosted at Manchester Township High School.
The la
st chance for the CVC to salvage a victory was dashed when Allentown fell to Toms River South and the Hightstown girls were soundly beaten by host Manchester Township.
The first seven games were played on Saturday.
Trenton and Ewing, the CVC’s two best teams, did not participate.
Toms River South 72, Allentown 53
Shane Gambarony scored 29 points, Jacob Myers had a 20-point, 13-rebound double-double and the Indians (3-0) pulled away from the Redbirds (2-2). Ryan Doran paced Allentown with 12 points and Nick Pless added 10.
Saturday
Ocean. Twp. 57, Hightstown 41
Aidan Saint Louis poured in 27 points and the Spartans (3-0) remained unbeaten with a victory over the winless Rams (0-3). Jaden Lawrence led Hightstown with 12 points.
Freehold Twp. 53, Lawrence 50
Only three players scored in the game for the Cardinals (2-2) as they couldn’t hang on to a fourth-quarter lead and fell to the Patriots (1-1). Marvin McNeil tallied 18 points and Michael Carrick and Josh Wilson had 16 each.
Manalapan 55, Robbinsville 52
The Braves (2-1) handed the Ravens (0-3) a third straight loss.
Red Bank Regional 41, WW-PN 39
The Knights (1-4) dropped their fourth straight as they came up a bucket short against the Bucs (2-2).
Howell 76, Steinert 49
The Rebels (2-1) made quick work of the winless Spartans (0-3). Michael Shanklin tallied a team-high 13 points for Steinert.
Middletown South 60, Notre Dame 59
The Eagles (2-0) continued the Shore’s dominance by coming out one point ahead of the Irish (1-3). Will Foley scored 15 points to lead ND, while Lucas Chuderewicz and Angelo Pesce had 13 each.
Manchester Twp. 64, WW-PS 55
The host Hawks (1-2) rounded out the perfect day for the Shore by knocking off the winless Pirates (0-5) in overtime.

Seton Hall Prep 83, Trenton 58
WEEQUAHIC — The Tornadoes (2-1) led at the half by a point before the unbeaten Pirates (4-0) pulled away with a 27-10 third quarter. Juan Sanchez and Aivaye Ingram scored 16 points each for Trenton.

St. Augustine 63, Hamilton West 48
OCEAN CITY — Noreon Martinez and Nakye Bradshaw combined for 33 points but the Horntest (1-2) couldn’t keep pace with the Hermits (1-1).
