Former DA Brauchler lays out the law on Tina Peters’ case
“I thank the opinion staff for publishing the piece from George Brauchler (earlier this week). His was a call for all of us to look at the facts in the Tina Peters case. Clarification of law from a district attorney was a welcome bit o
f intellectual and factual information during these divisive and uninformed times.”

Expiration of ACA tax credits creates crisis
“Our families are already stretched to the limit with rising costs for food, childcare, and housing — we cannot afford for health care premiums to skyrocket as well. The Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits, which make coverage affordable for hardworking families, are set to expire at the end of 2025. If Congress fails to act, nearly 5 million people, including children and those with pre-existing conditions — will lose their coverage altogether. More than 20 million will see their health care costs double or even quadruple overnight.
The consequences go beyond individual households. When millions become uninsured, the entire health care system suffers. Hospitals, maternity wards and nursing homes will be forced to close, driving up costs for everyone. With nearly $1 trillion in health care cuts already passed this year and Medicaid reductions leaving 15 million people without coverage, the expiration of ACA tax credits would push us into a full-blown crisis.
Rising health care costs are not inevitable — they are the result of policy choices. Congress has a clear path forward: make the ACA tax credits permanent and reverse the devastating Medicaid cuts. Rep. Jeff Crank’s vote to extend these credits is critical to protect families in Colorado and across the nation. Our families deserve access to quality, affordable health care, and not more tax breaks for billionaires while essential programs are gutted. Health care is a necessity, not a luxury, and Congress must act now to keep it within reach.

Tired of these two national news stories
Two continuing news stories I am especially tired of seeing and hearing about: Jeffrey Epstein. The guy was a sleazeball. He’s dead. Who really cares about what went on as far back as 40 years ago? Am I the only one who doesn’t? It’s yesterday’s news. Could the news media quit regurgitating it?
Erika Kirk. I’m sorry for the death of Charlie Kirk. Erika Kirk seems to want to perpetrate and thrive on the spotlight. Why?
I wish the media would do us a huge favor and drop these stories.
