Park City High students pitch in with holiday food drive
Dec 20, 2025
This holiday season, Park City High School students collected up to 60,000 pounds of non-perishable food and items.
“This is organized by the Park City High School’s National Honor Society Members,” said senior Scarlett Tary.
“It’s pretty cool because we are the largest high schoo
l food drive in Utah,” freshman Evelyn Lerner said.
For the first three weeks of December, high schoolers competed to see who could collect the most donations for the Christian Center of Park City.
Students collected donations and raised funds outside local grocery stores and worked with the school district to set up bins inside the elementary and middle schools for donations. Financial contributions were also accepted via the National Honor Society Venmo account.
“This is a tangible way to affect the community,” said senior Cohen Flach. “As a high schooler, there aren’t many opportunities to really help out, so it’s awesome to see all these kids gathering food for our community.”
On Friday, Dec. 19, all donated items were organized and packed up for delivery to the Christian Center.
“It’s incredible what the kids do for us,” said Jaime Mira, deputy director of food security for the Christian Center. “The donations collected from the high school’s food drive will feed families for up to six months.”
The need has been higher this year, Mira said.
“When SNAP payments were suspended, we saw an increase in people coming to the center,” said Mira. “However, what has been heartening is that, while the need has grown greater, the giving has grown greater too. I love this community.”
The lack of snow has clipped seasonal workers’ shifts as well, adding to the need.
If you would like to donate non-perishable food, household items or money to help those in our community, the Christian Center accepts contributions all year. There is a drop off area at 1283 Deer Valley Drive or you can send money to ccofpc.org/donate-financially/
