The guided-missile destroyer USS Lenah Sutcliffe Higbee returned Friday to Naval Base San Diego after a nine-month deployment that included time serving as an escort ship for the USS Nimitz as the carrier patrolled the Indo-Pacific on the final mission of its 50-year career. The Higbee left San Dieg o Bay in late March. It was the first deployment for the ship, which traveled to both the Indo-Pacific and the Middle East. The $2 billion destroyer made a stop in Yokosuka, Japan, in early December before turning for home.
