Overnight rain, before sunshine returns
Dec 18, 2025
The rain finally calms down early Friday as the cold front pushes through the region. A stray shower could hang on around daybreak, but most spots dry out quickly after sunrise. Folks in the High Country could see a few quick flurries thanks to a northwest breeze, while the Foothills and Piedmont
head straight for sunshine. Afternoon temps settle into the mid to upper 50s.
Friday night plans are a go, but things turn chilly, with temperatures slipping close to freezing around the metro area by Saturday morning. Feel-like temperature won’t play nice with the teens and 20s taking over. Don’t get too comfortable with the cold though as a big warm-up rolls in for the first day of winter on Sunday. By afternoon, highs reach the lower to mid 60s in Charlotte, giving us a pretty pleasant finish to the last full weekend before Christmas.
Yet another cold front drops in Sunday night, setting the stage for a cooler start to the holiday week, though it won’t bring much rain with it. Christmas week may begin on the chilly side, but warmer air quickly rebounds. By Christmas Eve, temperatures climb well above normal, flirting with 70 degrees in the Queen City. Snow lovers a white Christmas is basically off the table, with sunshine taking center stage across the Carolinas. Enjoy!
