Wood4Good: Expanding to Reach More Vermonters

Wood4Good is entering an exciting new phase of growth as we expand our free firewood program into new regions across Vermont. After another record-setting year serving families in need, we are taking int
entional steps to ensure that no Vermonter is left out in the cold—no matter where they live.
In the coming year, Wood4Good will establish new processing and distribution locations in Rochester, Burke, and Rutland County. These sites were chosen to help us reach more rural and underserved communities where access to affordable heating support is limited and winter can be especially challenging. Expanding into these regions requires new equipment, storage, transportation, and local infrastructure.
This growth is only possible with the support of both volunteers and donors. We need volunteers to help process, stack, and distribute firewood, and we rely on donations to cover operating costs such as fuel, equipment maintenance, safety gear, and transportation. Every hour volunteered and every dollar donated directly helps keep a family warm.
Firewood from these new locations will be available starting next winter, and the work to make that possible begins now. With continued community support—through time, resources, and financial contributions—we can build a stronger, warmer Vermont and ensure that no neighbor has to choose between food and heat.
Wood4Good has received national attention from the TODAY Show and locally from Seven Days.
