(BCN) -- Thursday in the Bay Area calls for most parts of the region to get partly sunny skies with patchy fog during the day, with slight chances of rain and cloudy skies at night, according to the National Weather Service. Daytime highs will be mostly in the low to mid 60s on the coast, high 50s around the bay, and high 50s to low 60s inland. Overnight lows will be mostly in the high 40s to low 50s. Fog will blanket parts of the coast and inland valleys Thursday morning, making for slow and cautious commutes in some areas, forecasters say. A dense fog advisory is in effect for the North Bay and East Bay interior valleys, Salinas Valley, and Monterey Bay through 11 a.m. According to the NWS, drizzle is possible along the coast and in higher terrain where fog and low clouds linger. A few isolated showers could develop in the North Bay later in the day, but forecasters said most areas would remain dry. Thursday is expected to be the last guaranteed dry day for at least the next week as a wetter pattern moves into the region. Forecasters encourage residents to finish storm preparations by night, advising cleaning gutters and storm drains, securing loose outdoor items such as holiday decorations, clearing fallen leaves and trimming tree branches away from homes and power lines ahead of the coming rain. More widespread wet weather is expected to arrive in the days ahead, increasing the risk of flooding in areas with clogged drains or poor drainage, according to the NWS.
