INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Prepare for an active and windy Thursday before temperatures briefly tumble into Friday.
Then, we’ll resume our trend of additional above average days into next week as we get closer to Christmas.
Wednesd
ay night: Increasing clouds and turning more breezy. Temperatures will eventually rise into the mid 40s by daybreak Thursday.
Thursday: Two cold fronts are poised to swing through Indiana. Widespread showers (some potentially heavy) slide in through daybreak and carry through the afternoon-early nighttime hours ahead of the first one. There could be some rumbles of thunder as well. It will also be windy with gusts of 35-40+ MPH at times. By Thursday night, we could have some snow showers develop with the second cold front passing through into early Friday.
Up to 0.5-1″ of rain is possible with locally higher totals not out of the question.
Highs in the low 50s.
Friday: Temperatures will tumble late Thursday through Friday morning, which could lead way to a flash freeze. This means that there could be some slick travel to combat with during your Friday morning commute with possible single digit wind chills.. Overall, the end to the workweek will be unpleasant with highs only in the upper 20s and staying breezy.
7-Day Forecast: Friday’s cold blast is very short lived as we rebound fast into the mid 40s. Temperatures meander into the upper 30s to low 40s Sunday and Monday. We can’t rule out a stray shower this weekend, but this weekend’s forecast is infinitely many times better than this past weekend. We look to warm back close to 50 Tuesday, and we could push even warmer than this into Christmas. It is still too early to throw out exact numbers for Christmas Day, but trends continue to favor a warmer than average Christmas.
